Basketball Game Preview: Utopia Buffaloes vs. Leakey Eagles

Utopia is 1-9 against Leakey since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Buffaloes will challenge the Eagles at 11:30 a.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Utopia is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Sabinal two weeks ago. The Buffaloes strolled past the Yellowjackets with points to spare, taking the game 35-17.

Meanwhile, Leakey took their game on Thursday with ease, bagging a 66-20 win over Sabinal. That 46 point margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.

Leakey has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points over those games. As for Utopia, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-4.

Utopia ended up a good deal behind Leakey in their previous meeting back in January, losing 36-21. Can the Buffaloes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
