Basketball Recap: Madison Smith and Audrey Teasley Secure Win for C.B. Aycock

After losing to West Johnston the last time they met, C.B. Aycock decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons took down the West Johnston Wildcats 51-32 on Friday. Given the Golden Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while the Wildcats are ranked 332nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

C.B. Aycock was led to victory by Audrey Teasley and Madison Smith. Teasley went 9 of 12 to rack up 23 points and three steals, while Smith posted 13 points and six rebounds. Teasley has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played.

C.B. Aycock smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive matches.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trinity Perry Moore, who put up 15 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Rhyli Quirk, who earned two points and four blocks.

C.B. Aycock's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.5 points over those games. As for West Johnston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-11.

Coincidentally, C.B. Aycock and West Johnston will both be playing Smithfield-Selma the next time they take the court. West Johnston will head out to face Smithfield-Selma at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while C.B. Aycock will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
