Soccer Game Preview: Newport - Bellevue vs. Mercer Island

The Newport - Bellevue Knights will head out to square off against the Mercer Island Islanders at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Newport - Bellevue will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Newport - Bellevue is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Everything went their way against Inglemoor on Tuesday as they made off with a 5-2 victory. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Newport - Bellevue's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Washington soccer rankings (they are ranked 11th, while Inglemoor are ranked 115th).

Meanwhile, Mercer Island had just enough and edged out Skyline 2-1 on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for Mercer Island.

Newport - Bellevue pushed their record up to 12-2-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those four matchups. As for Mercer Island, their record is now 7-3-2.

Newport - Bellevue might still be hurting after the 7-2 defeat they got from Mercer Island in their previous meeting back in June of 2021. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
