Baseball Game Preview: Glenns Ferry Pilots vs. Lighthouse Christian Lions

The Glenns Ferry Pilots are taking a road trip to square off against the Lighthouse Christian Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Glenns Ferry is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

On Monday, Glenns Ferry came up short against North Star and fell 8-5.

Alan Mesillas put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Mesillas was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Mesillas wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Payton Reynolds, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-6. Glenns Ferry is 5-2 when Reynolds posts two or more runs, but 2-6-1 otherwise.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 24 runs the game before, Lighthouse Christian was a bit more limited in their contest on Saturday. They lost 15-1 to Malad. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lighthouse Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Glenns Ferry, they now have a losing record of 7-8-1.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Glenns Ferry has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 9.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lighthouse Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Everything went Glenns Ferry's way against Lighthouse Christian when the teams last played back in March, as Glenns Ferry made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pilots since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
