Baseball Game Preview: North Central Thunderbirds vs. South Putnam Eagles

The North Central Thunderbirds will take on the South Putnam Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Central comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

North Central came up short against Parke Heritage on Wednesday, falling 16-1.

Meanwhile, South Putnam fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against North Putnam on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 5-4. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost nine in a row.

South Putnam saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kason Amies, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double was Amies' first of the season.

North Central's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for South Putnam, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Everything went North Central's way against South Putnam when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as North Central made off with a 13-3 victory. Will the Thunderbirds repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
