Softball Game Preview: Kearns Cougars vs. Cyprus Pirates

Kearns is 0-10 against Cyprus since April of 2021 but things could change on Wednesday. The Cougars will challenge the Pirates at 3:30 p.m. Kearns has given up an average of 11.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Kearns came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against West Jordan, falling 13-0.

Kearns saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sky Aguirre, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. Aguirre has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Meanwhile, Cyprus suffered their closest loss since May 16, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of West Field by a score of 4-2.

Calee Sharp made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Adelaide ( Addie ) Winn, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

Kearns' defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Cyprus, their loss dropped their record down to 12-10.

Kearns suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Cyprus when the teams last played back in March. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
