Baseball Game Preview: Wauzeka-Steuben Hornets vs. Weston Silver Eagles

Wauzeka-Steuben is 8-2 against Weston since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Hornets will host the Silver Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Wauzeka-Steuben has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Wauzeka-Steuben lost 13-3 to Seneca on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Hornets in their meetings with the Indians: they've now lost eight in a row.

Meanwhile, Weston had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Silver Eagles have posted against the Bulldogs since May 6, 2019.

Not much got past Isaac Jennings, who gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Ithaca off the board. Jennings has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Garrett Granger, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Wauzeka-Steuben's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Weston, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
