Softball Game Preview: West Lowndes Panthers vs. West Union Eagles

The West Lowndes Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the West Union Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

It was a proper cat-fight when West Lowndes duked it out with Houlka on Tuesday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Wildcats. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

West Lowndes got a massive performance out of Ahjala Givens, who scored three runs and stole seven bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those runs marked the first that Givens scored this season. Another player making a difference was Domonik Holmes, who scored three runs and stole six bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

West Lowndes always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, West Union earned a 9-4 win over Vardaman on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won six in a row.

West Lowndes' record is now 2-7. As for West Union, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

West Lowndes might still be hurting after the 18-0 loss they got from West Union in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
