Basketball Game Preview: Ennis Lions vs. North Mesquite Stallions

The Ennis Lions and the North Mesquite Stallions will face off at 11:00 a.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

On Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Ennis beat Varsity Opponent 50-45. That's two games straight that the Lions have won by exactly five points.

Meanwhile, North Mesquite took their match on Thursday with ease, bagging a 66-34 win over Lindale. Given the Stallions' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 495th, while the Eagles are ranked 1010th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North Mesquite is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.9 points per game. As for Ennis, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.

Ennis couldn't quite finish off North Mesquite when the teams last played back in November and fell 40-37. Can Ennis avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
