Softball Recap: Loogootee Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Loogootee took on Princeton on Saturday. The Lions lost 21-7 to the Tigers. The Lions have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Ava Jeffers was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Brynn Lengacher also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Loogootee's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Princeton, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Loogootee will face off against Forest Park at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Rangers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.25 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Princeton, they will head out to square off against Barr-Reeve at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed 1.2 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
