Basketball Recap: Fountain Inn Extends Winning Streak to Five

Fountain Inn won the last time they faced Hillcrest and things went their way on Friday too. The Fountain Inn Fury came out on top against the Hillcrest Rams by a score of 36-25. Given the Fury's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while the Rams are ranked 142nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fountain Inn's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aniya Brown, who posted eight points in addition to six boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Chaniya Jackson, who had seven points and three steals.

The victory (which was Fountain Inn's fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.4 points per game. As for Hillcrest, their loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fountain Inn will host Mauldin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hillcrest, they will welcome J.L. Mann at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in J.L. Mann's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
