Football Game Preview: Leonard Tigers vs. Holliday Eagles + How To Watch

The Leonard Tigers will challenge the Holliday Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Leonard is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Scurry-Rosser as they made off with a 40-14 win. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 419th, while the Wildcats are ranked 880th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jacoby Lacook had a dynamite game, rushing for 205 yards and four TDs while picking up 8.9 yards per carry, and also throwing for 280 yards and one touchdown. What's more, he racked up 97.8 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Zaylen Summers was Lacook's top target, picking up 132 receiving yards and one score.

Meanwhile, Holliday came into Friday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 50-30 margin over Early on Friday. The Eagles pushed the score to 50-22 by the end of the third, a deficit the Longhorns cut but never quite recovered from.

Holliday found their leader in sophomore Paxton Pepps, who picked up 57 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 93 yards.

Leonard's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Holliday, their win bumped their record up to an identical 7-4.

Leonard was taken down by Holliday 42-6 in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. Thankfully for the Tigers, Grant Cox (who rushed for 92 yards and four TDs on only 13 carries, and also threw for 159 yards and one touchdown on only 15 passes) won't be suiting up this time.
