Perry proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by eight) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Desert Mountain Wolves, sneaking past 3-1. The three-run effort marked the Pumas' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Julianna Nava spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits. Those hits were her first of the season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sammie Kaufmann-Warner, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season.

Perry now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Desert Mountain, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1-1.

Looking ahead, Perry will host Sunnyslope at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Desert Mountain, they are headed away from home for the first time to square off against Sunrise Mountain at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Desert Mountain's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Sunrise Mountain's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
