Basketball Game Preview: Davidson Day Patriots vs. Caldwell Academy Eagles

The Davidson Day Patriots will be taking part in a tournament against the Caldwell Academy Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Davidson Day's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games.

Last Monday, Davidson Day earned a 70-61 win over Burlington Christian Academy. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Royals are ranked 165th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Caldwell Academy didn't have too much trouble with Concord Academy on Saturday as they won 72-56.

Davidson Day is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points per game. As for Caldwell Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6.

Davidson Day was dealt a bruising 74-32 loss at the hands of Caldwell Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Caldwell Academy's Jaylen Cross, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds.
