It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Miamisburg ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Sidney Yellowjackets 6-5. Winning may never get old, but the Vikings sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Jake Craiglow made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Craiglow was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
In other pitching news, Tristan Korolchuk looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits.
Back at the plate, Logan Walker was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Harman, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
Miamisburg hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sidney struck out 12 times.
Miamisburg's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Sidney, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Miamisburg will venture away from home to challenge Chaminade Julienne Catholic at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Sidney, they will head out to square off against Stebbins at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Yellowjackets surely won't give up without a fight.
