Baseball Game Preview: Sierra Pacific Golden Bears vs. Lemoore Tigers

The Sierra Pacific Golden Bears will square off against the Lemoore Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Sierra Pacific 4, Lemoore 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Sierra Pacific's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They came out on top against Mt. Whitney by a score of 4-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Golden Bears.

Sierra Pacific got a great performance from Kaleb Koelewyn as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Koelewyn has posted since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Issac Ibarra, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cristian Flores, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Lemoore waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 5-0 win over the Tribe.

Nick Johnson was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Chris Garcia, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Sierra Pacific pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Lemoore, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Sierra Pacific has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lemoore struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 11.3 strikeouts.
