Burges is 9-1 against Canutillo since January of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Mustangs will square off against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Burges will be strutting in after a win while Canutillo will be coming in after a defeat.

Burges had to skate by with only a one-goal margin when they last took the pitch, which might have inspired the five-goal drubbing they dealt Jefferson on Saturday. The Mustangs never let the Silver Foxes get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. Given Burges' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 147th, while Jefferson are ranked 698th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Saturday. Canutillo fell 3-1 to Andress. Canutillo has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Burges has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 21 goals over those six matches. As for Canutillo, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9-1.

Everything went Burges' way against Canutillo when the teams last played on February 4th, as Burges made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
