Baseball Game Preview: Houston County Bears vs. Cullman Bearcats

The Houston County Bears will face off against the Cullman Bearcats at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Houston County: 0.8, Cullman: 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Houston County fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Oconee County on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 3-1. The game marked the Bears' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Cullman faced off against Spain Park on Tuesday. Cullman took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Spain Park. The Bearcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Houston County's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Cullman, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
