Basketball Recap: Kennedy Myers' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Statesboro over Wayne County

Statesboro was the 51-27 winner over Wayne County when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Statesboro Blue Devils took a 40-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wayne County Yellow Jackets on Saturday. The Blue Devils just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kennedy Myers, who went 5 of 7 en route to 12 points and eight rebounds. Myers has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Azziza Flowers, who posted six points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Statesboro smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive matchups.
