Basketball Game Preview: Westerville Central Warhawks vs. Central Crossing Comets

The Westerville Central Warhawks will square off against the Central Crossing Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Westerville Central is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Hilliard Darby just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 41-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The game marked the Warhawks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Central Crossing came up short against Hilliard Davidson on Tuesday and fell 50-43.

Defeat or not, Central Crossing got some senior leadership from Savannah Hamilton and Cordelia Watkins. Hamilton almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine boards, while Watkins almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. That was a full 48.8% of Central Crossing's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Westerville Central's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-5. As for Central Crossing, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Westerville Central beat Central Crossing 57-46 when the teams last played back in February of 2022. Will Westerville Central repeat their success, or does Central Crossing have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
