Softball Game Preview: Monticello Billies vs. Magnolia Panthers

The Monticello Billies will face off against the Magnolia Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Monticello will be strutting in after a win while Magnolia will be coming in after a loss.

Monticello will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Saturday, then bounced right back against Malvern on Saturday. Monticello put the hurt on Malvern with a sharp 10-2 victory. The Billies haven't had any issues with the Leopards recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Magnolia fell victim to De Queen and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 13-0 to the Leopards. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Magnolia saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rayleigh Herron, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Monticello's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Magnolia, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3.

Monticello took their win against Magnolia when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0. Does Monticello have another victory up their sleeve, or will Magnolia turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
