The Poinciana Eagles won the last time they faced the Mater Brighton Lakes Academy Broncos, and things went their way on Thursday too. Poinciana simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Broncos 70-24 at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Poinciana.
Poinciana's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keyanna Stanley led the charge by scoring 24 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Stanley is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Natalia Calderon, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals.
When it comes to explaining why Mater Brighton Lakes Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Delianie Diaz. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points.
Poinciana's win bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Mater Brighton Lakes Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-17.
Poinciana will face off against the Lions at TBD on Monday. Lake Nona has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 11. Mater Brighton Lakes Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
