Willow Levicki commands the offense for Pirates win

Recap: Englewood Pirates vs. Arvada Bulldogs

The Englewood Pirates won the last time they faced the Arvada Bulldogs, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Englewood managed a 40-35 win over Arvada. The win made it back-to-back wins for Englewood.

Englewood got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Willow Levicki out in front who scored six points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Alex Harkness, who scored ten points along with three steals.

Despite the loss, Arvada still got an impressive performance from Emma Ngewasi, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 19 rebounds. That was a full 48.6% of Arvada's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carmen Medina, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and five steals.

Even though they lost, Arvada smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Englewood only pulled down 15 offensive rebounds.

Englewood's win bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Arvada, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-9.

Englewood will be playing at home against Platte Canyon at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Platte Canyon's defense has only allowed 26.2 points per game this season, so Englewood's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Arvada, they will head out on the road to take on Bruce Randolph at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Arvada focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
