Basketball Game Preview: Davidson Day Patriots vs. Socrates Academy Owls

The Davidson Day Patriots will face off against the Socrates Academy Owls at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Davidson Day will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Davidson Day is headed into the contest having just posted their closest victory since December 29, 2023 on Thursday. They skirted past Victory Christian Center 49-47.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Socrates Academy). They simply couldn't be stopped on January 9th as they easily beat The Fletcher School 83-44. With the Owls ahead 51-26 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Socrates Academy's win came from a few key players Davidson Day will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was JP Polburn, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. Polburn is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Dom Vazquetelles, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 17 points and five steals.

Socrates Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The win got Socrates Academy back to even at 2-2. As for Davidson Day, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 18-12 record this season.
