The Sugar-Salem Diggers will challenge the South Fremont Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
South Fremont will be up against a hot Sugar-Salem squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Diggers were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over Preston on Saturday. The Diggers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Kambry Bartholick made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Sugar-Salem let Kenadee Birch and Ashlyn Harris run wild. Birch went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double, while Harris scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Shilo Woodcock, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Sugar-Salem was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in seven consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for South Fremont, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Everything went their way against Snake River on Tuesday as they made off with a 16-10 win.
Leah Lehmann was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Elayne LeCheminant, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Sugar-Salem's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-7. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.2 runs over those games. As for South Fremont, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.
South Fremont's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sugar-Salem has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. It's a different story for South Fremont, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given Sugar-Salem's sizable advantage in that area, the Cougars will need to find a way to close that gap.
