Basketball Recap: Red Oak Skates Past Terrell with Ease

Red Oak entered their tilt with Terrell on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They breezed by the Terrell Tigers to the tune of 84-32. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Tigers are ranked 1133rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Red Oak's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Anthony Burdine led the charge by going 5 for 7 on his way to 12 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Kerric Bradford, who went 5 of 7 en route to 15 points.

Red Oak has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.7 points per game. As for Terrell, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-16.

Red Oak will be playing in front of their home fans against Midlothian Heritage at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Red Oak is on a 13-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), Midlothian Heritage a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Terrell, they are taking a road trip to challenge Corsicana at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Corsicana has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
