Soccer Game Preview: Hoquiam vs. Ilwaco

The Hoquiam Grizzlies will head out on the road to challenge the Ilwaco Fishermen at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Hoquiam turned things around against Rochester on Wednesday. They and the Warriors finished up their match with a 0-0 draw. The result was nothing new for Hoquiam as the squad has yet to pick up a win this season.

Meanwhile, Ilwaco was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 15-0 to Elma.

With that draw, Hoquiam's record moves to 0-5-2. As for Ilwaco, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Hoquiam took their victory against Ilwaco in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 8-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hoquiam since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
