Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ferris). Everything went their way against the Kennedale Wildcats on Tuesday as the Ferris Yellowjackets made off with a 22-5 victory. Considering the Yellowjackets have won six games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Landri Davis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Aubrie Henson was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Tori Cook, who went 1-for-5 with five RBI and three runs.
Ferris always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They are undefeated (6-0) when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Ferris has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-8-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. Kennedale's defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-5-1.
