Softball Game Preview: Cox Mill Chargers vs. Pine Lake Prep Pride

The Cox Mill Chargers are taking a road trip to take on the Pine Lake Prep Pride at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Cox Mill is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They came up short against Northwest Cabarrus, falling 19-3.

Cox Mill saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evie Flores, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Pine Lake Prep had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victor by a 13-2 margin over Metrolina Christian Academy on Monday.

Emery Jensen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out 19 over seven innings pitched. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in February of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kristen Armstrong, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Caitlin Green was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
