Preview: Springtown Porcupines vs. Lake Worth Bullfrogs
The Springtown Porcupines will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lake Worth Bullfrogs at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Springtown has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Springtown posted their biggest victory since November 28, 2023 on Friday. They really took it to Castleberry for the full four quarters, racking up a 52-17 win at home. The victory was just what Springtown needed coming off of a 80-36 defeat in their prior contest.
Springtown can attribute much of their success to Esther Balado, who scored 11 points along with six steals and five rebounds, and Paige Winstead, who scored 18 points along with six steals and five assists. Another player making a difference was Brylynn Bazzell, who scored five points along with nine rebounds.
Lake Worth suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were beaten by Decatur 78-24. While losing is never fun, Lake Worth can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1086th, while Decatur is ranked 65th).
Springtown's victory bumped their record up to 17-14. As for Lake Worth, they bumped their record down to 14-16 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.
Springtown came out on top in a nail-biter against Lake Worth when the teams last played on January 5th, sneaking past 54-52. Does Springtown have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lake Worth turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
