Basketball Recap: Mattamuskeet Comes Up Short

Mattamuskeet was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were dealt a 60-13 loss at the hands of the Southside Seahawks. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lakers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-11 last Thursday.

Southside's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Skye Wilkins, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 16 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Wilkins a new career-high in boards. Michelle Brown was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

Mattamuskeet's record is now 1-9. As for Southside, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mattamuskeet won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Cape Hatteras at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Southside, they and Lejeune will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Southside is facing Lejeune at the right time seeing as Lejeune is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
