Basketball Recap: Tana Lopez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mesa Vista over Santa Fe Indian

Mesa Vista played a tough contest on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 57-33 to the Santa Fe Indian Braves. The game marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Mesa Vista's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tana Lopez, who posted seven points and six rebounds. Aaliyah Boies was another key player, putting up five points and four steals.

Daneen Herrera went supernova for Santa Fe Indian, going 7 of 10 on her way to 17 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaydence Riley, who put up nine points along with five assists and four steals.

Mesa Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Santa Fe Indian, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-3.
