Volleyball Recap: Hiawatha Finds Home Court Redemption Against Harvard

There's no place like home for Hiawatha, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They won by a set and slipped past the Harvard Hornets 2-1. The win continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won three in a row.

Hiawatha had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-21, 26-24.

Delaney Wood paced Hiawatha's offense, picking up six kills. Wood got some help from Mallory Banks and her ten assists. Ali Griffith-Perez controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Hiawatha's victory bumped their record up to 4-16. As for Harvard, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season.

Hiawatha didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Trinity Oaks Christian Academy on the 30th. As for Harvard, they will take on Richmond-Burton at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
