Recap: Lexington Minutemen vs. Alliance Bulldogs

The Lexington Minutemen's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight defeat. They took a 57-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Alliance. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Lexington of the 63-53 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.

Alliance got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Espen Lanik out in front who scored 21 points. Seth Meyring was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.

Alliance's lineup was just a bit different on Saturday as Jonah Amill got a bit more time on the court (22 vs. his season average of 10.1). Amill made the most of the opportunity, scoring seven points. A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Lexington has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season. As for Alliance, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-16.

Lexington will face off against Seward on Tuesday. As for Alliance, they will be playing at home against Sidney at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Alliance is coming into the game with three straight wins at home, so Sidney is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
