Basketball Game Preview: Newton Rams vs. Buford Wolves

The Newton Rams will take on the Buford Wolves on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Newton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 61-42 win over Norcross. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Rams' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Blue Devils are ranked 113th).

Meanwhile, Buford entered their tilt with Tift County on Tuesday with 25 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 26. They blew past the Blue Devils 66-45. The Wolves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 23 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Newton's victory bumped their record up to 22-5. As for Buford, their win bumped their record up to 27-1.

Newton was able to grind out a solid victory over Buford in their previous matchup back in February of 2025, winning 54-45. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
