Basketball Recap: St. Raphael Academy Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Tolman/Shea

On Thursday, St. Raphael Academy faced Tolman/Shea in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The St. Raphael Academy Saints fell to Tolman/Shea 37-31. The contest was a 17-17 toss-up at halftime, but the Saints couldn't quite close it out.

It was another big night for Tiyara Gonzalez, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 19 points in addition to six boards and four steals for Tolman/Shea. The match was Gonzalez's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Zareia Colome was another key player, putting up nine points.

St. Raphael Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5. As for Tolman/Shea, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

St. Raphael Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 38-27 victory against East Greenwich on the 31st. As for Tolman/Shea, they will welcome North Kingstown at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. North Kingstown will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Tolman/Shea surely won't give up without a fight.
