Monticello is a perfect 5-0 against Smackover since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Monticello Billies will look to defend their home field against the Smackover Buckaroos at 5:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.

Monticello is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Hamburg with a sharp 14-4 win on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Tye Guthrie made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. Guthrie was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Monticello got a big performance out of Rohan Patel, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Laytn Nichols, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Smackover entered their tilt with Junction City on Thursday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Dragons 9-3. The result was nothing new for the Buckaroos, who have now won three matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Smackover's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Monticello, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Monticello took their victory against Smackover in their previous meeting back in April of 2019 by a conclusive 10-2. Does Monticello have another victory up their sleeve, or will Smackover turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
