Softball Recap: Forestview Takes a Loss

If Forestview was feeling good fresh off their 17-2 takedown of Ashbrook on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Jaguars came up short against the South Point Red Raiders on Thursday, falling 20-10. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-4 back in March.

Kaitlyn Baker and Addley Phillips did some serious damage despite the final result: Baker got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Phillips went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Baker is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Kalli Stuart was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Forestview's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for South Point, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-4 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Forestview will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on North Gaston at 6:00 p.m. on the 14th. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.17 runs per game on average), something the Jaguars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for South Point, they will take on West Brunswick at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
