Basketball Game Preview: Montour Spartans vs. Chartiers Valley Colts

The Montour Spartans will square off against the Chartiers Valley Colts on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Montour is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They strolled past Milton Hershey with points to spare, taking the game 68-49. Given Montour's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Milton Hershey is ranked 139th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Chartiers Valley had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.9 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They breezed past the Eagles to the tune of 62-29. The Colts have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Montour has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 20 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.2 points over those games. Chartiers Valley's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-3.

Montour couldn't quite finish off Chartiers Valley in their previous meeting two weeks ago and fell 47-44. Can Montour avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
