Braves finish on top after knocking off Cody 14-7 in the Class 2A state championship game.

The high school football season in Wyoming came to an end over the weekend with state champions being crowned at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie. Star Valley (Afton) was among the winners, knocking off Cody 14-7 in the Class 3A title game. That victory helped propel the Braves to the No. 1 spot in the final state MaxPreps Top 25 rankings.

Star Valley avenged a regular season loss to Cody in the championship contest to win its 13th state title and fifth since 2015. Star Valley and Cody have combined to capture the last nine Class 3A crowns.

Class 4A Sheridan state champion deserves mention after capping an unbeaten season with a 34-23 win over East (Cheyenne) in the title game. For the Broncs, it was the 29th state crown in school history and eighth of the 2000s.
