Basketball Recap: Deandre Higgs Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Chicago Marshall

Thornton saw some tournament action on Friday. They snuck past the Chicago Marshall Commandos with a 65-59 victory.

Thornton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deandre Higgs, who went 8-for-11 to rack up 18 points and seven rebounds. Kobe Stevenson was another key player, shooting 50% from the field en route to 18 points and five boards.

Thornton's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Chicago Marshall, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Coming up, Thornton will head out to challenge Rich Township at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Chicago Marshall, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Julian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
