Greenwood hasn't had much luck against Mooresville recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Woodmen will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Greenwood turned things around against Warren Central on Monday. They came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 11-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Woodmen considering their one-run performance the match before.

Tessa Hammons made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gracelyn Bowles, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kinsley Clark, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Greenwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Mooresville got the win against Bloomington North on Monday by a conclusive 11-2. Considering the Pioneers have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Aubrey Todd spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Pailyn Blair and Tatum Humphrey did most of the damage at the plate: Blair went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Humphrey went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple. That triple was Blair's first of the season. Maddie Pierini was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Mooresville is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Greenwood, their win bumped their record up to 5-12.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Greenwood hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Mooresville struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Greenwood couldn't quite finish off Mooresville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Woodmen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
