Football Recap: Lake Weir Falls Short of Umatilla in the Playoffs

Lake Weir and Umatilla squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Lake Weir had to settle for second. They took a 26-12 bruising from the Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 48-8 on October 3rd.

Umatilla's receiving core played a big role in the win, headlined by Ray Jenkins and Bryce Norflee. Jenkins threw for 122 yards and two touchdowns while Norflee gained 67 total yards and two touchdowns.

Lake Weir now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Umatilla, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0.

Lake Weir does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Umatilla, they will challenge West Nassau at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors' defense has only allowed 12.5 points per game this season, so the Bulldogs' offense will have their work cut out for them.
