Mason City had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They pulled ahead with a 32-31 photo finish over the Ames Little Cyclones. This was a revenge game for the Mohawks: when they faced off against the Little Cyclones back in December of 2024, they had to take a 60-53 loss.

Mason City pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Ames, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mason City will challenge Waverly-Shell Rock at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Waverly-Shell Rock will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Mason City surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ames, they will venture away from home to square off against Fort Dodge at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
