Softball Recap: Dysart Takes a Loss

Dysart extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 2-7. They came up short against the Combs Coyotes, falling 15-0. That's two games in a row now that the Demons have lost by exactly 15 runs.

Dysart saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mya Sias, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Sias has snagged this season.

As for Combs, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games.

On Combs' side, Kayleigh Snyder made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Snyder has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Combs let Jackie Newman and Ellie Snyder run wild. Newman went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Snyder went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Charlotte Paterson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Dysart and Combs will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Demons will square off against rival Tempe at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Combs is set to take on their familiar foe Poston Butte at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
