Basketball Recap: Lexington Comes Up Short

Lexington suffered their biggest defeat since January 7th on Friday. They lost 84-63 to the Salisbury Hornets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellowjackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 75-42 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Lexington lost, don't look at Kamari McDonald. Despite the final result, he posted 11 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Henderson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Lexington smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Lexington's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Salisbury, the win was the 18th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-3.

Looking ahead, Lexington will venture away from home to take on North Rowan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Rowan knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 matchups -- so hopefully Lexington likes a good challenge. As for Salisbury, they will take on Queen City Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Salisbury's favor as the team sits on 24 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Queen City Prep has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
