Flag Football Recap: Columbine Falls Despite Big Games from Jordyn Washington and Ella Rieben

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Columbine can now relate to. They fell 21-12 to the Northglenn Norsemen on Tuesday. The Rebels' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Columbine's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ella Rieben, who threw for 190 yards and two TDs, and Jordyn Washington, who picked up 45 receiving yards and one score.

Columbine didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Rieben and Washington.

Northglenn's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaitlyn Fujinami, who threw for 216 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 73 yards on only nine carries. Evelynn Jaimes also helped with two TDs in total.

Columbine's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Northglenn, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-4.

Columbine does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Northglenn, they will square off against Arvada West at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday. The Norsemen's defense better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 26.2 points per game this season.
