Baseball Recap: Clyde-Savannah Takes a Loss

Clyde-Savannah was the 7-1 winner over Lyons when they last played one another back in April, but their luck changed this time around. The Golden Eagles took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions on Monday. The Golden Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Jackson Barr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Max Waldron was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Clyde-Savannah is 4-1 when Waldron posts two or more runs, but 1-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Salerno, who went 3-for-4 with one double.

Clyde-Savannah's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Lyons, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-10 record.

Coming up, Clyde-Savannah will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Marion at 4:45 p.m. The Golden Eagles are facing the Black Knights at the right time seeing as the Black Knights are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Lyons, they are taking a road trip to take on East Rochester at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bombers will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight.
