Preview: South Delta Bulldogs vs. Shaw Warriors
South Delta is 0-3 against Shaw since October of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The South Delta Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Shaw Warriors at 7:00 p.m. South Delta will be strutting in after a win while Shaw will be coming in after a defeat.
South Delta put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Friday. They breezed by West Bolivar on the road to the tune of 38-0. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point South Delta had established a 32 point advantage.
Among those leading the charge was LaBroderick Williams, who rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and also caught a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Dekevion Miller, who rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Shaw, who are still winless after their seventh match. They took a serious blow against Simmons two weeks ago, falling 60-8. Shaw was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-0.
The victory makes it two in a row for South Delta and bumps their season record up to 4-5. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 42 points. As for Shaw, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7.
South Delta might still be hurting after the 34-8 loss they got from Shaw in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Thankfully for South Delta, Omarion Blakes (who rushed for 90 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, and also threw for 84 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time.
