Volleyball Recap: Victory Christian Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Victory Christian unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Hayworth Christian Knights on Friday, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-17, 25-12.

Hayworth Christian was led to victory by Kaitlyn Mullis and Makenna Tate. Mullis hit 69.6% for 17 kills and 16 digs and seven aces, while Tate had seven digs and four aces. Mullis has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 17 times she's played. Kenzi Hardin also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Hayworth Christian moved to 2-7 with that victory, which also ended their six-game losing streak.

Coming up, Hayworth Christian will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Legacy Athletics at 5:30 p.m. Victory Christian will be paying especially close attention to the Knights' match: after the Knights face off against Cornerstone Christian Academy, they'll take on Victory Christian again at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
